Last spring my hubby and I tore up patches of grass where my gardens would go and planted gladioli bulbs and a wildflower mix I had previously purchased from one of the local dollar stores. Once they started to grow above soil level, it was time to make the gardens pretty.
We laid a black fabric weed barrier down, cut holes for the flowers, pinned the weed barrier in place, cut off the excess, and then evenly spread brown mulch(that matches our house) atop the weed barrier. Dont forget to water them when all is done!
I had hoped the gladioli would come up again this spring, but (with what I had read and heard) for whatever reasons occasionally they do not. To my surprise , considering my track record for first attepts, the bunches of glads are growing quite tall already. Obviously, I need to get my behind outside and lay fresh mulch down…….. but so far it’s looking good to me!!
